Dr. Erin O'Brien was born in Vernal, Utah and lived there until she was 13 years old. She graduated high school in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
She moved on to the College of Saint Mary (Omaha, NE) in 2001 and graduated with a BS in Biology, and then graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry with an OD degree in 2005.
After a visit with her own optometrist during her second year of undergrad, she decided that becoming an optometrist would be her career path. She was already on the medical track and just needed a focus. Not only did she find the machines and testing intriguing, but the patient interaction was a great plus.
Today, Dr. Erin practices full scope optometry, from pediatrics to geriatrics, with an emphasis on glaucoma diagnosis and management, disease treatment and management and contact lens fitting. She has been seeing patients over 15 years, 7 of those years has been in the state of Nevada.
She also received her State of Nevada Glaucoma Certification in 2019.
After having seen so many patients over the last 15 years, there's no specific patient story that sticks out as she truly enjoys every interaction with her patients!
Dr Erin enjoys hiking, reading and yoga as well as spending quality time with her family. She would love to travel more at some point. She also thoroughly enjoys public outreach and education and actively participates in community screening events and likes to give talks on the importance of good eye health.
She has been married for 8 years to her husband, Adam. They have a very energetic 5-year-old together (Madelyn). Her mom and dad live a few miles away, and they enjoy spending a lot of time with them. She also has a younger brother and amazing sister-in-law who live in Illinois. They have an 8-year-old daughter (she loves her niece CeCe!!) and are expecting a little boy in December.
