Learn Why You Need a Comprehensive Eye Exam!
At YESnick Vision Center, our focus is on your vision and eye health. Just as a physical exam checks the overall condition of your body, our comprehensive eye exam checks the health of your visual system. Even if you have no complaints – your eyes feel great and your vision is sharp – you still need routine examinations! Read on to know all the reasons we encourage our patients to schedule regular eye exams with Dr. David Yesnick, in our leading Las Vegas, NV, optometry clinic.
Vision screening is not the same as a comprehensive eye exam
Many of our patients undergo basic vision screening at the pharmacy or in school. Make no mistake – these evaluations of your visual acuity do not replace thorough eye exams performed by an eye doctor! Vision screening generally involves having you read an eye chart at various distances. While it can detect your need for eyeglasses or contact lenses, it doesn’t assess ocular health. In our Las Vegas office, Dr. Yesnick will use a variety of advanced tests, the latest digital technology and ultra-precise procedures to examine your whole visual system.

Eye disease often has no symptoms
Many common eye diseases, such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts and diabetic retinopathy, do present symptoms during the beginning stages. By the time you notice symptoms of these serious conditions, they have advanced to a late stage, and treatment is often less effective. The only reliable way to detect eye disease at the beginning is through a professional, detailed eye exam. And the earlier we diagnose your eye disease, the more helpful treatment will be in preventing vision loss!
Eye exams can detect dangerous health conditions
Did you know that a comprehensive eye exam can save your life? When Dr. Yesnick inspects your retina and ocular tissues, he may spot the signs of hypertension, high cholesterol and diabetes. These life-threatening diseases often impact eye health, even before you know you have them.
